David Baker, Associate

David’s experience includes

  • 13 years as Assistant State Manager of a large Government Department where he introduced change and managed diverse programs including the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service and the Corporate Operations of the Department

  • 7 years as a mediator specializing in the mediation of family and child disputes around family breakdown

  • 10 years working with Indigenous Australians in the Northern Territory and South Australia in welfare roles and in the resolution of conflict around land rights.

David’s qualifications include a B.A. in Social Work, Masters Degree in Conflict Management and he is concluding work on his PhD about Issues of Fairness in Redundancy and Redeployment.

David’s skills include:

  • Executive management and strategic human resource management 

  • Conflict management and dispute resolution at the organisational level and with individuals through mediation and the resolution of disputes in cross-cultural settings. 

  • The introduction and management of change in organisations and community organisations, including ethical management of job loss.

  • Enabling learning especially in relating theory to practice.

  • Knowledge of and capacity to research and teach in areas of ethics, human resource management, public sector administration, employment change, industrial relations, negotiation and conflict management and issues of social justice.

  • Capacity to achieve goals with people of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
